It's soooo sad!!!! everything we grew up with has been built on. I played in that corn field after school everyday! Now there is an old ass crusty Walmart!

The Commons I believe was the name of the A&P/Zayre "Shopping Center".
From the west: Laundromat, Dry Cleaners, Barone's, A&P, Walgreen's, Steven's Furniture, Pet Store, Fabric Store, Thom McAnn Shoes, Bressler's 33 Flavors, Zayre. I am missing a few stores I think.
Zayre later splits into T.J. Maxx/Zayre, A&P leaves, Great Scot takes over.
That was THE Place in town in it's day.....

Yes I remember that dog. It was the owner's pet. It was always in there. It was a siberian husky. I totally forgot about that til your post. My dad would take me in there just to see that dog.

Barone's pizza almost forgot about that place. Our family didn't go out to eat often but when we did it was there. What about portillo's. I grew up eatin those hotdogs lol

I still have my old "Project One" tuner and amplifier I bought at Playback in 1976... and it still works!

K-Mart just south of I-55, the original Bolingbrook movie theatre next to K-mart (gone). South Commons mall which also had Aladdin's castle (Arena auto auction). Perkins restaraunt which became Aurelio's Pizza which is now an Extended Stay. Starlight Drive-In in Romeoville which is now a storage place next to Crazy Rock. Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips (now Brown's Chicken). Speedway on 53 & Boughton (used to be Hauck gas Station). Midwest Bank (gone). Clementine's Pub on Schmidt (still there), Chicken Kitchen (now Day & Night). True Value (opposite side of Tilgaters).

True Value was actually Home Hardware, worked there my senior year.

It was called Home Value Center...then it closed and turned into Aldi....then that closed and turned into something else before turning into Tailgaters

It was Pete's before it was Tailgaters. The original For Pete's Sake was on the northwest corner of Boughton and 5.
